Greg is a Consulting Systems Engineer with Cisco Systems, Inc. According to Greg, Cisco is the World Leader, by far, in Internetworking for the Internet. He started out as a Pre-Sales Systems Engineer (SE) which means that he designed all types of Corporate Networks and helped them with their Connectivity to the Internet. He has helped design very small networks to 120,000+ user networks. His current responsibilities include being a technical resource for 100+ SEs in Texas and New Mexico and to a lesser extent Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Information Security and designing large corporate networks are his current areas of focus. Greg also typically speaks and develops the content 5-10 times a year for Security Seminars that Cisco Sponsors.
Greg's main charter is to help customers see the value in purchasing products from Cisco and show them how their Network can be a revenue stream and not a cost center. These products have expanded to include voice over IP technologies (VoIP), Security, Content Delivery Acceleration products, and Storage Area Networks. His territory is responsible for a Quota of $240 Million in Revenue this fiscal year from Small to Medium Businesses (SMB), K-12, and Higher Education institutions. Larger corporations, Service Providers, and Federal Customers in this territory are covered by other teams within Cisco.
Greg is a Routing and Switching (R&S) CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert). He has re-certified twice as this is a requirement every 2 years. There are roughly 8500 CCIEs worldwide as of October 2002. Compare that to 50,000+ MCSE and 100,000+ CNEs. Greg is currently working on his second CCIE, which is the Security CCIE.
